Tuna Sandwich with a side of...ahhhhhhh.

Over this past year my comfort food has shifted. It used to be popcorn (which I still really love). Now I unwind with a toasted tuna sandwich on whole wheat and a cup of tea. (yet another grandma trait that I seem to have developed)

This shift has got me thinking about food...

Food is powerful.

You can smell it, see it, taste it, touch it, hear it cooking.

Food is an experience. It's tied to memory and relationship.

Think about it. A Baby is born and some of it's first experience of another person is Mother feeding it.

We celebrate with food, we mourn with food, we meet around food.

Food is the great leveler. We all need it.

Jesus was all about food. His first miracle was at a feast. He fed 5 thousand. He wanted to be remembered around a table with bread and wine.

Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.

Blessed are you who run to him. (Psalm 34:8)

Bon Appetite!

So tell me, what's your comfort food?

My comfort food would have to be dill pickles. I love those things and could sit down and eat an entire jar easily.

Hooray for blog friends, you're cute Karen! I feel that way about cookies. I like to make um, but I don't really like eating them. But that could be because I overdose on the dough before it hits the oven... just a theory. haha.

Zach, you're right...puppies aren't food. please remember that.

Are you telling me that Balogna sandwiches don't comfort you? Not even when you're protein deprived and exhausted from a busy day of not giving kids tuck?

Do kids really need more candy? If anything, they need to learn the value of a well made bologny sandwhich. Suggestion to the board...replace all Tuck with Protein Shakes and sandwhiches next summer.

Ice-cream...I have a huge tub of strawberry ice-cream in my freezer that was left-over from Camp this summer.
I've only opened it once...but it is very tempting and good.
Maybe a little spoon of it just before bed will be nice...

i would have to say i to am like this zach fellow, i love a good balogna sandwich... but it's gotta be real balogna, no that "sandwich meat stuff" it has to be the kind you cut yourself, and it has to be really stinkin thick, then you have a good balogna sandwich... and it can be with either mayo or ketchup.

All food is comforting! I love food, the taste, aroma and apperance! OK, maybe not liver, but everything else is exceedingly pleasant! We can learn alot of lessons from food! Salt of the earth, yeast of the pharisees, Bread of Life, I'm sure there are others. Food is a basic need for all humanity. Just like God! Isn't God amazing! A table for us has been prepared in the presence of our enemy! Wow! (Kelly, camp cook and lunch lady boss)
